These villages have a full range of options, strong ties to the local community and an emphasis on equal and meaningful relationships, where residents decide what retirement living means for them.

BeGroup’s strategy is focused on securing and operating existing villages, some with incremental development potential. In this, BeGroup has been successful, now comprising a portfolio of 9 villages across the North Island.

Since the initial investment in 2021, Rangatira has twice invested additional capital to support BeGroup’s growth.

Following a significant capital investment and modernization program in 2024/25, Boulcott now has five operating theatres, a 30-bed ward and day stay unit, a specialist centre and onsite radiology services provided by Pacific Radiology.

Over 40 specialists work from the hospital across orthopaedics, gynaecology, plastics, ophthalmology, ENT and general surgery. Most specialists are shareholders in the hospital, investing alongside Rangatira in 2022.

Based in Te Anau, FLC is vertically integrated as an owner of quota as well as having fishing and processing operations. The company also has a significant presence in Australia, operating as the South Australian Lobster Company and processing 25% of the Australian lobster catch.

Exporting 1,400 tonnes of crayfish annually, it is one of the largest operators in the Australasian region.

As a world leader in the field, Magritek brought the first desk top NMR spectrometer to the market in 2012.

During Rangatira’s involvement with the company, Magritek has been able to significantly grow the market for its products. In addition, Magritek has successfully consolidated its operations and head office to Germany to be closer to its customers.

Rangatira is invested alongside management, employees, Ampersand Capital (US healthcare tech investor) and other shareholders.

There are three sheep and beef properties running over 40,000 stock units across 12,500 hectares.

Over the last three years, NZ Pastures have purchased 5,000 hectares across several properties for the purpose of forestry development. These properties have been planted in the winters of 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Rangatira believes in this sector over the long-term and now has scale and a diversified exposure across multiple properties.

NZS provides services to its customers under the Geeves, Wellington Scaffolding, Workzone, Canterbury Scaffolding, Bramwell Scaffolding, Bay Scaffolding, Temporary Works Consulting and Formshore brands, with 18 locations across New Zealand and over 300 employees.

The company has a presence in the development and maintenance of civil and social infrastructure, industrial and commercial property, and residential property segments. In addition, it has established a temporary works engineering consultancy, reflecting the increasingly complex requirements of its customers.

Rangatira invested alongside the existing founders and investors as NZS embarks on its next phase, supporting the existing team as it continues its triple focus on a safe work environment, quality customer service and financial performance.

They provide services to customers across Northland, Auckland and the Lower North Island regions under the Northland Waste, Econowaste and Low-Cost Bins brands. The proudly 100% New Zealand owned and operated company was founded in 2009, has approximately 500 team members and has grown to support over 250,000 New Zealand homes and businesses.

Rangatira was a principal investor in Polynesian Spa at its 1972 inception. Our continued support over the years has enabled them to grow into one of Rotorua’s premier attractions, adding numerous new facilities such as retreats, reflexology walks and plunge pools.

Rangatira’s investment has allowed for a rejuvenation of the park, including expansion of Kidz Kingdom, a refresh of the iconic log flume ride and the recent addition of attractions including an immersive theatre experience, Spectra, Stratosfear, and City Strike Laser Tag.

In 2025 Rainbow’s End welcomed back the well loved Pirate ship ride.

Rangatira anticipates a return to solid cash yields from this investment.

Rangatira has, to date, invested in three of their partnerships:

• Oaklands (2019) – a 28-ha Zespri SunGold development near Waiuku (first crop 2022).

• Eastern Rise (2020) – a 88-ha SunGold development near Whakatane (first crop 2023).

• Aurora Gold (2023) – has acquired two existing Zespri Green orchards (total 41-ha) to convert to SunGold.

All three partnerships have shares in Zespri (the grower owned marketer and exporter of NZ kiwifruit that develop and own the IP of the varieties). Rangatira’s total effective ownership is now 31 canopy hectares in physical orchards and 652,181 Zespri shares.

With its origins dating back to 1984, SDT has a fleet of over 50 trucks and trailers. Despite the challenges of industry and economic cycles, the business has relied on its culture, customer focus and concentration on a safe working environment, strengthening its relationships with its ‘blue chip’ customer base, driving revenue growth and introducing new services.

Rangatira co-invested alongside the founders by acquiring a 50% shareholding in Hellers in 2003. With Rangatira's investment, Hellers expanded its facility in Kaiapoi, Christchurch, set up a new factory in Wiri, Auckland and made multiple acquisitions to broaden its scope.  Hellers now employs 575 people nationwide and is a leading New Zealand brand.

The business performed well over our 16-year partnership.  We conducted a successful exit in early 2019 when we sold our share of the business to Adamentem Capital.

Rangatira acquired a 50% share in Contract Resources in 2004, with the management team (Bill Stretton, Gray Gardiner, Trevor Penny and Andy Wells) holding the other 50%. From 2004 the company grew its core Australian and NZ businesses substantially. It also expanded into new markets in the US, East and South America. Its sales and profits grew and it became one of Rangatira’s largest investments.

Rangatira and management successfully sold Contract Resources to Hellaby Holdings in 2013.

Rangatira first invested in Partners Life in 2012 and supported the business through several capital rounds, which enabled it to grow into one of New Zealand’s leading life insurance providers, with over 225,000 policyholders.

Rangatira successfully exited its stake in Partners Life as part of the sale of the business to Dai-ichi Life.

With headquarters in Melbourne, Bio-Strategy represents over 150 international agencies with 120 staff across 7 offices in New Zealand and Australia.

Founded in 2003 by Graeme Thompson and Robert Lyon, we invested alongside the founders in 2015 to support the growth of the business organically and via acquisition. We conducted a successful exit in late 2023, selling 100% of the shares in Bio-Strategy to Swiss global distributor, DKSH.

The introduction of Rangatira’s capital, alongside owner-operator Markus Hasler, funded the manufacturing plant that opened in February 2018. The large plant, located in West Auckland, enabled Mrs Higgins to meet demand for existing products within New Zealand, diversify its product range and expand into supermarkets and Australian food service markets.

We acquired the Hasler’s 50% stake in Mrs Higgins in 2022 before successfully exiting the entire business to Cookie Time in 2023.

The 6,000sqm production facility in East Tamaki, enabled a full range of in-house services from design to cutting, printing, assembly and packaging.

Under Rangatira, APC secured market share through a focused strategy and investment, including the acquisition of Jazz Print in 2021 a leader in the production of collateral for the real estate and automotive industries.  In June 2025 Rangatira sold 100% of its shares in APC to the Blue Star Group, an industry leading business in manufacturing, print management, design, marketing communication, digital and logistics.
