Phil is Chief Executive Officer of Rangatira Limited and the Rangatira Group of Companies. Before joining Rangatira, Phil was based in New York City as a Partner at Growfire, a middle market advisory and investment firm, and Partner & Managing Director at PIPC (acquired by Cognizant in 2010). Earlier in his career, Phil worked for engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald on site roles in London and Asia.
He is also Chair of Kea New Zealand, a global business network. Phil is an Honours graduate of the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury.
Phil is currently a director of portfolio companies Tuatara Brewing (Chair) and Hellers.
Chief Financial Officer
Chris joined Rangatira in 1999 and is in charge of investment management, finance, administration and secretarial functions for Rangatira.
He has wide experience as an accountant and financial analyst, both in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom and was previously an analyst for a New Zealand broker.
Chris has a BSc and BCom from Victoria Univeristy of Wellington.
Chris is currently a director of portfolio companies Bio-Strategy (Chair) and Hellers.
Amanda is responsible for portfolio management, monitoring and improving investment performance and financial reporting. Prior to joining Rangatira in 2015, she spent 6 years at the IMF in Washington D.C. where she conducted due diligence on emerging market central banks.
Her previous experience includes Credit Suisse in the UK and Deloitte NZ, where she provided strategic advice to high growth companies.
Amanda has a BCom from Victoria University and BSc from the University of Otago, and is a Chartered Accountant with CAANZ.
Board of Directors
David spent nearly 30 years in the dairy sector, holding senior executive positions with Fonterra and the NZ Dairy Board.
David has a BSc and a BEng (Chemical) from the University of Canterbury, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dairy Science and Technology from Massey University.
He is also a director of Port of Tauranga (Chair), Zespri, Douglas Pharmaceuticals and was a director for Restaurant Brands, and Balance Agri-Nutrients.
David has been a Director of Rangatira since 2006 and Chair since September 2013. He sits on the Remuneration Committee and on the board of portfolio companies Hellers (Chair) and Tuatara Brewing.
Keith represents the McKenzie trust and family interests on Rangatira’s board.
Keith has a Diploma in Land Surveying from the University of Otago and subsequently gained registration as a Land Surveyor.
He has a background in horse racing as the director and owner of Roydon Lodge Stud which has bred leading horses such as Sundon, which was New Zealand Stallion of the year on four occasions.
Keith was reappointed as a Director of Rangatira in 2011, having previously served as a Director between 1991 and 2005. He sits on the Audit and Remuneration Committees and on the board of portfolio companies Polynesian Spa (Chair) and New Zealand Pastures.
Lindsay has over 20 years of experience at Fisher & Paykel, with responsibilities for legal, regulatory, compliance and intellectual property rights, and has worked on major commercial agreements including acquisitions and divestments by both the appliances and healthcare businesses.
Lindsay has a LLB with honours from the University of Auckland.
He has been a director of Fisher and Paykel Healthcare since 1992.
Lindsay has been a Director of Rangatira since 2002. He chairs the Audit Committee and sits on the board of portfolio companies Auckland Packaging (Chair) and Bio-Strategy.
Sam has 30 years’ experience in management and financial services, and as CEO of Kiwibank from 2000 to 2010 grew it from a start-up to a profitable full service bank.
Sam has a BSc in Physics from Waikato University and a MSc (Hons) in Resource Management from Canterbury University.
He is also a director of Synlait Milk, Trustpower, Partners Life (Chair), SLI Systems and was Chairman of Xero until 2014. Sam sits on the Remuneration Committee.
Sam has been a Director of Rangatira since 2011.
Sophie has a background in strategy consulting and corporate finance with a career spanning New Zealand Post, Citibank NA, ANZ Investment Bank, and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.
Sophie is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors, and has a BCom and Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from The University of Melbourne.
She is also a director of CentrePort Limited, the MetService and a trustee of the Akina Foundation.
Sophie has been a Director of Rangatira since 2013. She sits on the board of portfolio companies Rainbow's End and Magritek.
Richard comes from a 30 year career in corporate banking and has held a number of senior executive roles with ANZ National Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank Australia, Westpac Trust Australia and Citibank New Zealand where he was Chief Executive.
He holds a BCom from the University of Auckland and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
He was a director of Heartland Bank Limited. Richard sits on the Audit Committee.
Richard has been a Director of Rangatira since 2012. He sits on the Audit Committee and on the board of portfolio company Rainbow's End (Chair).
